info for parents

Registrations

If interested in attending Karibu, parents are invited to first visit our centre. It is important to us that you feel happy & confident about where you are going to bring your child. During this visit you can see the facilities first hand & get a feel for how we work. We will answer any questions that you may have & discuss in detail the care needs that you require.

If at this point you are happy to register your child with us, you must complete the registration form & provide a copy of your child’s vaccination record. A one week deposit must be provided. Your child’s place is not secured until these steps are completed.

If we are not able to provide a place for your child at this point we will keep a record of your details on our waiting list & you will be contacted if a place comes available. Priority will be given to full time children & siblings.

Registrations are made in accordance with our inclusion policy.

Settling In

Before a baby starts in our centre, we will arrange for parents to come to visit with their child.  During this visit they will bring a completed daily schedule for their baby which they can discuss in detail with the staff in the baby room.  This gives us a chance to get to know your baby’s individual personality, likes & dislikes & to make the transition between home & creche as smooth & pleasant as possible.

We will then settle your baby over the course of a week.  This following is an example of a typical setting week:

Day 1: your baby will attend for 1 hour. This should be a time when your baby is neither hungry nor tired so that they can enjoy the experience. Mid morning /afternoon is usually a good time. You will stay for half an hour & then leave your baby for half an hour.

Day 2: We will repeat the same but this time you will stay for less time.  If your baby is happy he/she will stay for1- 1.5hours.

Day 3: We will add a part of the routine e.g. your baby will have a bottle/lunch with us. They will also stay for a bit longer 2 hrs approx..

Day 4: We will add another part of the routine e.g. nap time. We will also extend the time he/she stays with us.

Day 5: We will aim for an almost full day today.  We would ask you to collect your baby a little earlier than a full day at perhaps 4pm.

This is just an example as every baby is different & may need more or less time to settle.  It also depends on what you as a parent are happy to do. However, during the settling week we ask that you or someone that your baby is close to, be on hand to collect them early should they become especially tired or distressed.

For toddlers we follow a similar pattern but we would increase hours more quickly over the course of the week.

Invoicing

Invoicing is done monthly, in advance for crèche children & in arrears for After Schoolers.  We ask parents to pay electronically by standing order or transfer or to pay  by cheque.  Bank details will be provided upon receipt of the first invoice.

Invoices will be issued at the start of each month & all queries must be communicated before the 8th of the month.  Invoices must be cleared by the 10th of the month.  Two late payments will result in a penalty. Three late payments will result in the crèche place being cancelled.
